Moreton in Marsh Parking Review Consultation
Overview
We’re reviewing parking arrangements in Moreton-in-Marsh to better balance the needs of residents, businesses, visitors and commuters. We want to hear about the challenges you face, from parking pressures near the high street and railway station, accessibility, disabled parking and wider transport needs.
Why do we need changes?
Parking pressures in the town centre have been identified as a key concern within the Moreton-in-Marsh Town Council transport strategy. We’ve heard that finding a parking space can be frustrating for residents, that parked vehicles can block pavements and that limited parking can discourage visitors from stopping in the town. Furthermore, proximity to the train station has also been identified as a source of increased parking competition.
With future development expected in the area, we want to ensure parking arrangements continue to support the community, local businesses and the town’s long-term growth. We also want to improve access by making sure disabled parking bays are located close to key destinations for those with mobility needs. Furthermore, we would also like to hear if you are an EV owner or a cyclist in the area looking for further infrastructure support.
What this means for you?
As the highways authority, we are reviewing how parking is currently used across Moreton-in-Marsh so we can identify issues, understand local needs and develop fair and practical solutions shaped by community feedback.
Your feedback will help us better understand how parking is currently used and help shape fair, practical solutions that support the community now and in the future. This could include resident parking schemes on specific streets, changes to parking restrictions; including short-stay and long-stay parking arrangements, pay-and-display parking, more blue badge bays, signage and other measures designed to improve Moreton-in-Marshes accessibility and convenience.

We are looking forward to hosting a public drop-in session at Redesdale Hall on Thursday 25th June from 4pm to 6.30pm to get a more detailed understanding of your feedback in-person. This could include any specific suggestions on such as demand for public EV chargepoints, where disabled parking provision is best located, or any specific locations which cause a congestion bottlenecks or issues with loading and deliveries if you are a business. We are also open to hearing on any feedback surrounding how to manage event-based parking, residential parking and parking during pick-up / drop-off school times. Furthermore, any suggestions you have regarding additional cycling infrastructure such as storage and feedback on issues with cycling is also welcome.
Come along to speak with the project team and designers who will be shaping the future of parking and transport needs in Moreton-in-Marsh. Your input will help shape practical, balanced and sustainable recommendations that reflect the needs of the local community.
