Tell us your views on the draft strategy to tackle domestic abuse in Gloucestershire.

Domestic abuse is a devastating crime, and the impact is significant – in some instances, it can be life changing or life ending in its most severe form. It impacts individuals regardless of their gender, ethnicity, age, sexuality, socio-economic background and religion. One in four women and one in six men will be affected by domestic abuse in their lifetimes, just over 2 million adults in England and Wales. More locally, crimes tagged as domestic abuse in Gloucestershire account for 19% of all crimes reported to the police 6, however it is well understood to be an under-reported crime.

Domestic abuse is any incident or pattern of incidents of abusive behaviour between those aged 16 or over (regardless of gender or sexuality) who are, have been (or are about to be) married, civil partners, intimate partners, those who are relatives, and those who have or have had a parental relationship in relation to the same child. This abusive behaviour includes physical, sexual, violence or threats, controlling, economic, psychological and emotional.

Gloucestershire’s multi-agency Domestic Abuse Local Partnership Board (DA LPB) works to strengthen and coordinate the responses to domestic abuse across all services in the county both for accommodation based, and community based support to victims. As part of the requirements of the Domestic Abuse Act, the Gloucestershire DA LPB has developed a 3-year draft strategy to tackle domestic abuse (building on the previous strategy) that sets out Gloucestershire’s vision for domestic abuse, our strategic priorities, and the objectives and outcomes to help achieve these. It has had input from across the partnership and has been informed by the voice of victims, survivors and the wider community.

As part of the requirements of the Domestic Abuse Act, we are engaging with a number of partners across the county to gather their views on the draft strategy, before it is finalised. As part of this engagement, we are seeking your feedback through the short online survey below. Once this survey has closed, we will collate your feedback and review this alongside other feedback we collect, to incorporate into the finalised strategy. This final strategy will then be taken on and adopted by the Gloucestershire DA LPB and its members, which will then be used to develop a dynamic delivery plan that will support its implementation.

There a number of specialist terms used in the draft survey. Any term that is highlighted blue are defined terms, and their definitions can be found in Appendix 4.

To add your views, please complete this short survey on the draft strategy below (noting that this document is not the final formatted version, and we are only asking for your feedback on the content only);
