Waste Local Plan for Gloucestershire | Call for Sites
Consultation has concluded
Gloucestershire County Council is preparing a new countywide waste local plan that will set out a comprehensive and sustainable land-use strategy for managing Gloucestershire’s waste into the next decade. The new plan must look at how waste can be reduced; where waste is unavoidable, how more of it can be turned into a valuable resource; and how its effective and efficient processing can be achieved without polluting our environment and contributing towards climate change.
At this time, the county council is very keen to hear about what land could available in the future to accommodate new waste management infrastructure. This exercise is known as ‘Call for Sites’.
‘Call for Sites’ is open to all, but especially public sector and private landowners, prospective developers and the business community to let the county council known about any sites / areas of land available to accommodate waste management infrastructure over the next 15 years.
This is a technical plan-making exercise. The information collected through ‘Call for Sites’ is vitally important in helping to prepare a deliverable development strategy and land-use planning policy options
The county council will scrutinise and carefully consider any sites / areas of land, which are submitted through this ‘Call for Sites’. The key purpose of the exercise is to establish whether there are any potentially available, acceptable and appropriate parts of the county that could evolve into allocations for new waste plan.
No submitted, candidate sites / area of land received through the ‘Call for Sites’ exercise can claim any kind of special or favourable planning status or presumption in favour of waste-related development. Furthermore, carrying out of a ‘Call for Sites’ exercise does not mean that the emerging new Waste Local Plan for Gloucestershire is more likely to contain specific site allocations.
Ideally, the county council would appreciate ‘Call for Sites’ responses to be submitted digitally using the survey below.
However, other means of submission are accepted. A downloadable submission form has been provided and this can be e-mailed to the Minerals & Waste Policy team: m&wplans@gloucestershire.gov.uk
Alternatively, hard copy submission forms can be received by post to: ‘WLP CALL FOR SITES CONSULTATION 22’; Minerals & Waste Policy; Strategic Infrastructure; Economy, Environment & Infrastructure; Shire Hall, Gloucester; GL1 2TG.
To ensure your submitted site(s) / areas of land are considered by the county council, please make sure fully completed ‘Call for Sites’ submission forms are received by the county council by 5pm 30 November 2022.
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION | An Ordnance Survey-based location plan at 1:1250 or 1:2500 scale is required with EACH submission form. A red line boundary for the promoted site in question must be included on the OS location plan. A blue line boundary must also be included on the OS location plan for all nearby land that is within the same ownership. All accompanying site location plans must be clearly labelled with the promoter’s chosen site name.
