Thank you to everyone who took part in the engagement exercise. A copy of the engagement report is available to download here.

Merrywalks is the main bus hub in Stroud and has been identified as a ‘strategic market town hub’ in Gloucestershire’s emerging Transport Interchange Hub strategy.

However, in recent years the bus shelters at Merrywalks have deteriorated with Stroud District Council receiving comments about the shelters and immediate surroundings.

We would like to transform Merrywalks into a more accessible public transport interchange, with better information on services and more comfortable places to wait. We aim to improve the environment for pedestrians, cyclists and provide live information on both bus and train services.

Gloucestershire County Council, Stroud District Council and Stroud Town Council are pooling funding from various budgets to deliver this through the provision off:

  • New, high quality bus shelters
  • Improved information provision, including Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI)
  • CCTV
  • Lighting improvements

In addition, we want your opinions on other options to improve and expand the interchange hub, such as:

  • Improved urban realm
  • Secure cycle storage
  • Parcel collection
  • Electric vehicle parking
  • Bike repair station
