Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) and all other Gloucestershire authorities each declared a climate emergency in 2019. Following this declaration, the county council adopted a Climate Change Strategy setting out key carbon reduction targets. These targets are also included in Gloucestershire’s Local Transport Plan (LTP), which was adopted in March 2021 and commits the council to setting out a strategy to decarbonise transport. Gloucestershire County Council has started an analysis of transport related carbon emissions, work on our ‘Journey to Net Zero’ strategy started last year and is set to be published in the summer of 2023.

In July 2022, we held a Gloucestershire Decarbonising Transport Forum in partnership with UK100*, bringing together key stakeholders and experts to share and discuss the work we have commenced. More information on this forum, including a summary report, can be found here: ‘Journey to Net Zero’ event hosted by county council - Gloucestershire County Council

To continue the engagement started at the forum, and to feed into our decarbonising transport strategy, Gloucestershire County Council is seeking to hear from all residents, businesses and organisations, community groups, transport interest groups, councils, and parishes on their views to prioritise transport measures to reduce transport carbon emissions and reach net zero by 2045.

The 6-week engagement period is from Friday 13 January to Tuesday 28 February 2023.

Additional information can be found in our feedback report available here: Journey to Net Zero - Gloucestershire County Council

Please note that some elements of the survey require a full postcode to take part. This is to ensure we capture a representative sample of the community’s feedback. Other sections relating to diversity and equality are optional but will help us in making an informed decision on the proposals. This survey also includes free text questions.

* UK100 is a network of highly ambitious local government leaders, which seeks to devise and implement plans for the transition to clean energy that are ambitious, cost effective and take the public and business with them. Gloucestershire County Council is an active member.
