Why should I complete the survey?

We need your views and opinions to help take us forward and make improvements for all of us. We want to gain as many views as possible from our diverse workforce and the survey is one of our key tools to help us undertake this task. It really does help us to understand what we are doing well at and what we need to improve on.

How will my responses be kept anonymous?

The survey is completely anonymous. We are not looking to identify individuals or their personal opinions. We take anonymity and confidentiality really seriously with our survey as we want to ensure that as many colleagues as possible feel able to complete the survey. We want you to trust us and trust that your opinion really does matter.

To make sure responses can’t be identified we won’t be asking for any personal information.

The survey is conducted online via an external government approved consultation system operated by Engagement HQ. This is the same system we use for all of our external consultations. The system has a privacy statement regarding GDPR and how the data is managed and stored. The system is accessed via the internet. The Consultation Officer within the Communications Department downloads the reports and these are analysed within the Human Resources Team and distributed to relevant managers.

Why have these questions been chosen?

Many of the questions are the same or similar to last year, which will enable us to compare the results and see where things have improved or got worse. There are also some new questions that we are keen to hear your views on. Most of the questions are based on other staff surveys so we can compare the information we get back.

We have sought feedback from our Change Champions and made subsequent amendments.

What will happen to the information I give?

The information will enable us to review our practices and put in place improvements where we feel this is required. The results of the survey will be published in the New Year.

The results will be looked at by managers and the Change Champions who will liaise with colleagues in their teams to put together an action plan, which will feed into the council’s workforce strategy.  We will ensure that we keep you up to date with our progress and we will make sure we tell you about the changes we will be making as a result of the survey.

How long will it take me to complete the survey?

The survey should take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.  You could sit somewhere quiet, have a cuppa and complete it.

    When does the survey close?

The survey runs for 3 weeks and will close on 22 March 2023.

Does the survey close with any inactivity, i.e. if I start and don’t finish, will my partial completion be saved?

The survey remains open in your internet browser. If you register to the site you should then be able to save and go back to the survey at a later time.

Do I need to complete the survey all in one go?

Unless you are registered to the site, you will need to complete the survey and submit it.  However, it does remember previous answers and if you shut it down and went back to it, it would auto fill the sections previously completed.

If I think I’ve made a mistake, can I go back to correct it in the questions?

Yes, just select Previous at the bottom of the page.

I don’t have access to a computer at work, could I complete it online from home or my smartphone or personal device?

Will we receive reminders about the survey?

Yes we will be sending out regular reminders during the duration the survey is open.
