Contraceptive Services

Long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) is a term which describes two types of reversible contraceptives, coils (intrauterine devices or systems) and implants. These are the most effective forms of reversible contraception, making LARC services an important part of contraception provision in Gloucestershire.

Specialist training is required to fit LARC devices and we are aware that service provision varies across the county with not all GP surgeries currently having qualified fitters.
