About the Care Academy

The Care Academy is being developed to support and strengthen the vital role of unpaid carers in our communities. It will offer practical, flexible training and guidance designed around carers’ real experiences, with a focus on short, accessible sessions delivered face-to-face where possible. The aim is to build confidence and skills in areas such as moving and handling, first aid, and mental health, while also helping carers understand the support already available to them without duplicating it. The Care Academy will use clear, everyday language and provide easy signposting to trusted information, as well as guidance on topics like working with Personal Assistants (PAs). Most importantly, it will create a supportive space where unpaid carers feel informed, valued, and better equipped in their caring role.

The Care Academy will also support the Adult Social Care workforce by offering opportunities for learning, development, and clear career progression pathways. In addition, it will provide targeted support for small and medium-sized (SME) providers, including practical business advice to help strengthen and sustain high-quality care services.

We want to design the Care Academy that works for you as a carer. This short survey will help us understand what you need.
